Tourism, Recreation, Hospitality

By 2016, Russia may find itself among ten most popular tourism destinations. WTO experts estimate that Russia ranks 15th in the global classification by foreigner traffic, representing 2.5% of the global inbound tourism market. Russia’s hotel market totals at least 17 mln square meters with only 30% of that space or less meeting today’s requirements, while the remaining part is in need of comprehensive overhaul or replacement.

According to official data, Russia's restaurant business generates $2.5 bln in annual revenue. Since the time perestroika was started, Moscow has turned into one of the highest-profile spots on the world's «restaurant map» though with its 5,000 restaurants it still falls short of the demand. For reference: Paris, a much smaller city compared to Russia's capital, has 14,000 restaurants, New York — 17,000

Russia’s restaurant market has the following structure: Restaurants proper, i.e. places with a full-fledged menu, wine list, and table waiting service represent 45% of the market, fast food outlets account for 30%, bars and coffee shops — 14%, street food stalls — 11% of the market.
